About Us
Kenmac Auto Parts was a business envisioned by Ken McHeffey, he came to the Sunshine Coast on a tip that this area needed an auto parts business to service the growing community. The land was purchased on highway 101 and the building began. The doors opened for business in July of 1959. Kenmac Auto Parts which carried the name of the owner, started with one employee, Larry Boyd and Ken to supply the growing town of Gibsons and surrounding areas. They ran a delivery out to Sechelt and into logging camps.
Larry and Yvonne Boyd purchased the business in July of 1968 and continued to service the growing town of Gibsons. Working hard to meet all the needs of the community, the store was doubled in size in 1975 at which time Larry’s son Shawn started working part time.
Shawn became the manager in 1980, and took over the shop a few years later. Since then Shawn has raised three children and is an avid participant in the local drag races held annually here on the Sunshine Coast. Shawn retired at the end of 2025, passing the torch to his middle Son Jordan.
Jordan was born and raised on the Sunshine Coast. He left briefly when he went to college, but ended up coming back in 2012 with his wife and kids. Jordan has worked in the shop for many years and took it over in January 2026, making Kenmac a family owned and operated shop for three generations.
